Short Tail keywords

Short tail keywords are generic keywords, these t, these types of keywords are very popular and have a huge monthly search volume. These keywords are usually of one or two words like “apple” or “car”. You can say that here user’s search query is not specific.

For example, when a user searches in google for “car” then google will show the most relevant results related to car, but here google will don’t know what is the intent of the user, there are too many possibilities here like users want to buy a car or want information about the car or sell his car.

So, Short tail keywords are less preferred because here user query is not specific, and also their competition is so high. It is very difficult to rank on the first page due to the high competition.

Mid-tail keywords

Mid tail keywords have a high volume and traffic potential but also have high competition, these keywords are generally two to three words. These are more descriptive than short-tail keywords.

In mid-tail keywords, user intent is clear than in the short tail. For example, in “Best car 2022”, here user wants to see the best car of 2022.

Long-tail keywords

Long-tail keywords are user queries that are targeted to a very specific query or topic. These are very long search terms and have a low search volume, but very low competition. Due to their low competition, it is easier to rank them. Those keywords which are greater than 3 words are long-tail keywords.
